Why people around Elko call us

  • Built by someone who did repairs

I spent years patching cracked walks, broken steps and sunken slabs for a property management company, so we build to avoid the problems I used to repair.

  • One person from estimate to pour

I look at every job, write the estimate myself and stay on site with our crew, so nothing you told me gets lost before the pour.

  • Choices explained before you sign

We walk you through the mix, the joints we cut so cracks land where we choose, and what goes under the slab, so you know what your money buys.

Our home city of Elko

Elko is where we're based, and it's a city with plenty of history to it. If you've spent an afternoon at the Northeastern Nevada Museum, a few minutes from downtown, you know its galleries, archives and community programs, and the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum honors cowboy and gear-making history in the downtown building that once held G.S. Garcia's saddle shop, with its yearly Bit & Rawhide Rein contest supporting today's makers.

At the California Trail Center, an Elko-area stop, visitors take in life-size dioramas and original art, hike the trails and sit in on interpretive programs. The rest of Elko is where we spend our days, pouring driveways, walks, steps and slabs for houses, rentals and businesses, and doing the same work in Spring Creek and the cities around it.

Broad tiled concrete steps lead to a landscaped patio with flowering plants and a covered seating area.

Concrete services in Elko, NV

Elko Concrete handles 16 kinds of concrete work in Elko, NV, from new driveways and patios to footings, foundations and cutting. The price mostly turns on the size, the tear-out and base work your ground needs, the thickness and the finish, and the schedule turns on permits and pouring weather. Your free estimate at your property gives you the figure for your job.

  • Fresh concrete driveway with control joints leads to an open two-car garage beside a brick house.

    Concrete driveway building

We dig out and pack the base, set the slope so water runs away from the garage, and pour a driveway built to carry your cars for years.

  • A stone-clad fire pit burns at the center of a furnished concrete patio beside a red-brick house.

    Concrete patio construction

A new patio slab for your backyard, poured on a packed base and pitched so rain drains off it instead of pooling against your house.

  • Curved gray concrete sidewalk leads through a leafy, landscaped yard toward a house, with a red brick section in the foreground.

    Stamped concrete services

Stamped concrete gives a patio, walk or pool area the look of stone or brick, pressed and colored into the fresh concrete while it's still workable.

  • A wide concrete driveway leads to a brown house with a double garage, bordered by flowering garden beds and trees.

    Concrete sidewalk building

When a walk has heaved or cracked into a trip hazard, we pour a new one with a broom finish, a brushed texture that gives shoes grip.

  • Smooth speckled concrete garage floor in a bright garage with red cabinets and bicycles stored on the wall.

    Garage floor concrete

We pour garage floors made for vehicles, tools and heavy storage, adding rebar, the steel laid inside to hold the slab together, when the load calls for it.

  • Decorative concrete driveway with a dark gray, patterned finish in front of a modern home.

    Decorative concrete

Decorative concrete covers color, exposed stone and custom finishes for homes and businesses that want their entry, patio or walk to look like more than plain gray.

  • Gray concrete patio with a circular block fire pit, low retaining wall, outdoor seating, and flower planters beside a house.

    Concrete retaining walls

When a slope keeps sliding into your yard or driveway, a poured concrete retaining wall holds the dirt back and gives you level ground to use.

  • Decorative concrete driveway with large pale slabs separated by grass strips, bordered by lawn and palm trees in front of a house.

    Concrete floor installation

We pour interior concrete floors for basements, shops, barns and commercial spaces, set flat and finished smooth so they're easy to sweep, seal or cover later.

  • Concrete pool deck with a light gray, jointed surface beside a curved turquoise pool, lounge chairs, trees, and a wooden fence.

    Concrete pool decks

A pool deck has to drain and stay safe under bare feet, so we slope it away from the pool and choose a finish with grip.

  • Concrete steps with inset lights and a metal cable railing descend beside tiered retaining walls and a paved patio.

    Concrete steps construction

Crumbling or uneven front steps are easy to trip on, especially at a rental, so we form and pour new ones with even rises and a solid landing.

  • Large rectangular concrete slab foundation with control joints and metal forms beside a house under construction.

    Slab foundation building

We build slab foundations for homes, garages and outbuildings, starting with a packed subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, so the building starts out level.

  • Pool deck with a stone-tile edge and green turf beneath a screened enclosure surrounded by trees.

    Foundation installation

For a new house, addition or shop, we dig, form and pour the foundation that carries everything above it, built to your plans and local code.

  • Wide concrete sidewalk with expansion joints curves between brick buildings, shrubs, and a lawn.

    Concrete parking lot building

We pour concrete parking lots and drive lanes for businesses and rental properties, graded to shed water and built to take daily traffic and delivery trucks.

  • Covered stamped-concrete patio with a warm brown patterned surface, stone seating walls, and colorful chairs.

    Concrete footings

Footings are the concrete base under a wall, post, deck or addition, and we pour them to the depth and size the load needs so it stays put.

  • Curved stamped-concrete patio with rectangular blocks in mottled brown and gray beside a grassy lawn.

    Foundation raising

If a slab or foundation has sunk, we lift it back toward level and look at the soil or water that let it drop in the first place.

  • Stamped concrete sidewalk runs between open wooden gates beside a house, with a dark marbled finish and fenced yard beyond.

    Concrete cutting

We saw-cut concrete for doorways, trenches and removal, plus control joints, the shallow cuts that tell a new slab where to crack, with clean, straight edges.

How a job goes with us

  1. Call or send the form

Call (775) 510-0139 or send the form on our contact page with a few lines about what you need, whether that's a sunken walk, a new patio or a slab for a shop. We reply to every call and form within one business day and set a time for me to come see it.

  2. I look at the site and write the estimate

I come out, look at the ground, the slope and where the water runs, and ask how you'll use the space, because a patio for a grill and a pad for a trailer are different jobs. Then I write up a free estimate with no obligation and check whether the job needs a permit.

  3. We pull permits and pour

Once you're ready, we pull any permit the job calls for and keep you posted on where it stands with the office that covers your property. We set the pour date around the weather, since pouring in hard midday heat can leave a weak, dusty top, and I'm on site with our crew throughout.

  4. Curing and care

When the finishing's done, we clean up and explain curing, the wait while fresh concrete hardens and gains strength before it can take weight. I'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and when to drive on, plus how to look after it so it stays easy to live with for years.

Your concrete questions answered

How much does concrete work cost in Elko, NV?

It depends on the job, mostly the size, whether old concrete has to come out, how much digging and base the ground needs, the thickness and the finish. A plain broom finish costs less than stamped or colored work, and an easy spot for the truck to reach helps too. Each service page goes into what drives its price, and I'll give you your own figure in a free estimate at your property.

Is it worth paying more for base prep under a concrete slab?

Yes, because the base is what keeps a slab from sinking and cracking, and it's the one part you can't fix later without tearing the concrete out. It's hidden on day one, so it's often the first thing people want to cut. If the budget's tight, I'd rather simplify the finish than skimp underneath.

How long will I be without my driveway after new concrete is poured?

You can usually walk on new concrete well before you can drive on it, because it keeps gaining strength for days while it cures, and I'll give you the dates for your slab before we pour. If the job needs a city permit, the City of Elko suggests allowing about 3 to 6 business days for review, which is guidance rather than a deadline, so we plan the pour date around it.

Does a concrete contractor need a license to work in Elko, NV?

Yes, a contractor needs the right Nevada state contractor's license for the work plus a City of Elko business license before the city can issue them a permit. The person who qualifies a company for that state license needs at least 4 years of experience in the trade within the past 15 years, so it's worth asking any contractor about theirs. Elko Concrete is fully licensed and insured.

Who handles the permit for a concrete job in Elko?

We do, by checking during the estimate whether the City of Elko Building Department requires a permit for your job, then pulling it ourselves when it does and keeping you posted. That matters because starting required work without one means paying two times the permit fee, and the property owner, not the contractor, has to correct work that doesn't comply. To see what's been permitted at your address before, search the city's permit portal.

Does Elko Concrete guarantee its concrete work?

Yes, we offer satisfaction guaranteed on every job. What I can't do is promise a slab will never show a hairline crack, so before you sign I'll tell you plainly what we're doing to keep cracks small and where we want them.

Why does concrete crack, and will my new slab crack like the old one?

Some hairline cracking is normal, but the bad cracks and sinking I used to repair usually came from a loose base, poor drainage or joints cut late or skipped. We dig out and pack the subgrade, check where the water runs and cut control joints on time, so a crack follows a line we chose. Where a slab carries heavy loads, we add rebar too.

How deep do concrete footings need to go in Elko, NV?

For residential building in the city of Elko, the code treats the frost line as at least 30 inches below finished grade, and footings are set from that minimum. That's a minimum in the code, not a measured depth on your lot, so I check your ground and your plans before we dig.
